Music Monday: Empty Bet

I don't listen to a lot of Korean music... actually, I don't listen to a lot of music in general... but sometimes I'm watching a kdrama and a song just sticks to me. "Empty Bet" was from the 2nd episode of the F4 Special Edition of Boys Over Flowers (also known as Boys Before Flowers) that featured character Woo Bin. The special editions were pretty much crap, so I'm just gonna go ahead and post a poster from BOF/BBF and not the special edition posters:
I just happen to like this picture because we never see JiHoo in his uniform, and the rest of F4 wears them for like 2.4 seconds. Anyway... while suffering through the depressing Woo Bin (played by Kim Joon) episode, "Empty Bet," sung by Kim Jo-Han & Kim Joon, was playing in the background. This song is a bit of a throwback as it was released in 2009, but I couldn't resist posting after it came up on my iTunes.

Happily, this was not another over-played obnoxious song like all the other ones on the BOF OST. I found myself singing the song (making up my own Korean words as I went along, I'm sure, lol) long after the episode ended.
English translation of "Empty Bet":
[Kim Jo-Han] Late night your call
I already know everything
Take all the memories of us I have
The typical love and the sweet lies
If I think about it now, it is just all scars

[Chorus/Kim Jo-Han] I ask you take all the evidence of you I have
Even take the hesitation I have of waiting you
The sayings like goodbye and good luck
Don’t leave anything. Promise me

[Kim Joon] I’m sorry I’m already crying
The promises I made to forget you is now nothing
Without hesitation leave
First, I keep thinking of you
We were crazily close, you and me
But what is the point of regretting now
Pushing you away, erasing you
You don’t disappear
My heart is almost going to burst
I can't breathe
Take all the old memories
Don’t leave a single thing

[chorus] I ask you take all the evidence of you I have
Even take the hesitation I have of waiting you
The sayings like goodbye and good luck
Don’t leave anything. Promise me

[Kim Joon] Without a preview the love appears and disappears
Now I will organize your memories right now
Cleaning up the strands of your hair in my room
Deleting all your pictures off my website
Erase the folder I couldn’t erase in the recycling bin on my computer
Call my friends and drink
Work and more work during the weekends
After now it starts to get a little better
But, in my dreams I still search for you
It's not easy, my heart towards you doesn’t stop
Take all the memories
Already all of my heart died

[chorus] I ask you take all the evidence of you I have
Even take the hesitation I have of waiting you
The sayings like goodbye and good luck
Don’t leave anything. Promise me

[Kim Joon]I empty but you still fill up
I throw away but you reappear
I erase but you are redrawn
But in your memories I start to fade

[Kim Jo-Han] I ask you take all the evidence of you I have (take all)
Even take the hesitation I have of waiting you (take all)
The sayings like goodbye and good luck
Don’t leave anything. Promise me (Promise me)
I’m sorry I throw away and away
The leftover love (you are my girl)
In my heart, it is still only you (still only you)
Even today, I don’t do anything but wait for you.

The song is basically about the Korean concept of "to make empty" which is emptying yourself after a failed love. Awww... poor Woo Bin!

Kim Joon (also known as Kim Jun or Kim Hyung-Joon) is part of the boy group TMax. It's cool that they put the music made by the actors in their F4 Special Edition episodes (and of course both Kim Joon and Kim Hyun-Joong, both part of boy groups, had their songs on perpetual repeat in the series and on the OST).

And just for fun because the BOF kid cast was so darn cute:
