As an audience who immerses itself in Asian content such as Korean dramas, Kpop, Japanese dramas, Chinese dramas, Taiwanese dramas, and much more content from Asian and Pacific Island countries, cultures, and communities, it is our responsibility to stand up against injustice, racism, and discrimination.
We should not in good conscience watch/listen to Asian-generated content while also turning a blind eye to the violence the community is facing. It doesn't matter if it's not happening to you, if it's not directly impacting your family/friends, or it's not your country. Stand up for what is right. Work hard to be anti-racist and expand your worldview. We can't be safe until all of us are safe.
- Hate has no home here
- Black lives matter
- Love is love
- Humans aren't illegal
- Science is real
- Women's rights are human rights
- Water is life
- Diversity is celebrated and makes us stronger
- Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere
Kdramapedia is an inclusive environment. Please leave your shoes and hate at the door.
These are not up for debate or discussion. If any part of this post upset you, please sit with yourself honestly and figure out why. Then go out and seek legitimate sources to research these topics. May your eyes and heart be receptive to growth and change. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
To those who agree with everything in this post, thank you. Remember to take time out for self care. Continue doing the work of self-reflection, supporting marginalized communities, and being actively anti-racist. We see you, we hear you, we support you.
